Michael O’Connor is the Co-Founder and CEO of Rainmaker Worldwide Inc., bringing over 35 years of expertise in corporate finance, business development, and governance. His leadership has driven global business growth across telecommunications, finance, and water sustainability sectors.
In 1998, he joined Orascom Telecom in Egypt as a founding executive, leading business development and M&A across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Under his leadership, the company expanded from 250,000 to 125 million mobile subscribers across 10 countries, with a workforce of 100,000 employees.
In 2008, he co-founded WIND Mobile (now Freedom Mobile) in Canada. The company rapidly grew to over 1 million subscribers and 1,000 employees before its $1.6 billion acquisition by Shaw Communications in 2016.
Earlier in his career, Michael O’Connor worked at the Economic Council of Canada before becoming Director at SAIC’s Center for Economic and Financial Analysis in Washington, D.C., where he advised on strategic mergers and acquisitions.
